Hospitality 2.0: Hotel Sogo’s “So Safe” Innovations

Hotel Sogo, the largest hotel chain in the Philippines, is the first in the hospitality industry to institutionalize safety innovations of global standards especially at this time of COVID-19 pandemic. As part of its “So Clean, So Good, So Safe” campaign, the Sogo So Safe Program, was launched to intensify cleanliness, sanitation and disinfection standards vis-à-vis the new health and safety challenges. Guest Satisfaction is no.1 in Hotel Sogo’s objectives and the following innovations which provide multiple layers of protection for its guests are aimed at re-establishing confidence for a safer hotel experience.

It is important that touch points within the hotel premises are free from bacteria and viruses. The hotel has started using Copper Films to cover frequently touched surfaces. The anti-microbial properties of Copper zap viruses within minutes.

Air-conditioning units in rooms have been installed with 3M Filtrete™, on top of the regular aircon filter. This special type of filter has permanently-charged electrostatic fibers which work 3-ways --- cleans, purifies and disinfects. Hence, even the micro-pollutants such as fine dust, pollen, smoke and illness-causing bacteria and viruses are eliminated resulting to a cleaner and safer air.

Ultra-Violet Radiation C (UVC) light is the first scientifically-proven technology which instantly kills harmful pathogens, bacteria and viruses. This technology is used to sanitize cash registers, keycard cases, elevator buttons, ceiling, room door handles, among others. It is also utilized by the hotel as a safe way of disinfection in food preparation. Hence, hotel guests are protected from the facilities they use to the food they order.
